In the current musical climate of dancy backtracks, avante-garde experimentation, and distortion-laden fuzz pedals, 70’s rock n’ roll seems to have been put on the back-burner. It’s not like it’s been banished entirely, but rather a relic of irony espoused by those pesky mustache-bearing hipsters. In retrospect, guitar rock is nothing to be reckoned with and it’s influence is making a gradual resurgence... Toronto’s Sam Coffey & The Iron Lungs, the band that emerged onto the scene with the snappy melodies of power-pop and the lo-fi abrasiveness of classic garage.
