About the Artists...

✨ DJ OC Notes ✨

Born Otis Calvin III, OCnotes is an artist, musician, DJ, author,
motivational speaker, and has been a vibrant figure within Seattle's
music scene since the turn of the decade. Over the years, he has
released over 50 albums, mixtapes, and EP’s. A chameleonic artist both
as a solo entity, he is one-half of Metal Chocolates, one-third of
Indian Agent, one-half of FREEKAZOIDZ, one-quarter of Knife Knights, and is a member of the Black Constellation. He also works currently as a live visual artist & musical collaborator with Shabazz Palaces.

OCnotes is known for his wildly unpredictable and consistently on-point DJ sets, which could be considered snapshots of his comprehensive appetite for original sounds.

Get lost in his music or listen to his radio show, "Sunday Soul" every Sunday from 6-9pm in Seattle Washington on 90.3 KEXP FM, streaming worldwide on KEXP.ORG

✨ Smacktalk ✨

Smacktalk is a 5 piece jazz-fusion collective from Seattle, Washington. With a focus on original music, they harness the powerful capabilities of the saxophone and rhythm section to create textural landscapes across a variety of genres.
Formed in 2016, SmackTalk makes party music for smart people. Their jazz chops fuse with funky soul and indie rock energy for a brand of modern music all their own. SmackTalk also is one of several New Cool favorites attracting a younger audience than that of traditional jazz acts.

Sax player Natalie Barry tells KNKX, "Jazz qualities are absolutely appealing to younger listeners, because everyone likes to emotionally connect with the music they’re listening to. I think that jazz tonalities are particularly good at doing that. There’s nothing that says that the jazz scene is only inclusive of people that are hip to complicated chord changes and fast, intricate lines...but jazz influences are exploding and showing up everywhere."
