At Tek Out, we’ll be serving you a 6 course meal of footwork, juke, ghettotech, and more to keep your feet moving and your asses shaking until the club closes. This show is a celebration of the history of what makes these genres and dance styles what they are today, and a love letter to the communities that make it happen. Tek Out will make your feet move faster than you ever thought they could. From footwork battles in Chicago to Seattle’s Kremwerk complex, we are bringing you a selection of some of the genre’s most formative and influential voices, and we’re expecting you to come with an appetite.
From footwork battles to clubs around the world, DJ Manny is indisputably a legend in the footwork scene. A Chicago native, Manny has been footworking since the age of 10, and came up under the tutelage of the late DJ Rashad, one of the early pioneers of footwork. Manny is a member of Teklife, the collective founded by Rashad and DJ Spinn. He is and has been a major defining contributor to the genre throughout his entire life. An extremely skilled dancer, DJ and Producer, Manny’s multifaceted influence touches every aspect of what makes footwork what it is today.
DJ Exis is a Seattle-based DJ and the founder of Ghetto Tech, a platform that celebrates the raw energy and roots of underground club music. She’s known for her high-energy sets that seamlessly blend ghetto tech, footwork, club, and house, always keeping the crowd moving and guessing what’s next.
MIXYA is a rising force in Olympia’s underground, blending the city’s DIY legacy, queer nightlife energy and punk to rave lineage into high energy sets. MIXYA is a multi genre DJ who plays a wide variety of genres depending on the event ranging from footwork, ghettohouse, club music, miami bass, and jungle. You will find her every month hosting and DJing her party FRTMPO in downtown Olympia.
Mo Pls is an up and coming Olympia based DJ. They love mixing unexpected blends of genres creating an atmosphere that holds true to their beliefs the dance floor is for ass shaking, healing and resistance.
Originally from Houston, Texas, Distemper is a DJ, producer and event organizer who has called Seattle’s underground music scene home since 2022. His largely open-format DJ sets are highly experimental and versatile, spanning a huge variety of styles, but free tekno, footwork, and “club” music are his specialties. Passionate about community outreach and event organizing, he believes in creating and sustaining community through dance, music, and mutual aid. Last year he founded Underdogs Soundsystem, a queer/trans-run DIY Soundsystem collective with this very goal in mind.
Arel aka CTRL.MP3 is a staple of Seattle’s electronic dance music scene. Known for his work as DJ, Producer, and founder of the event series Housepartysea, he remains the leader in providing a platform for cutting-edge DJs and pushing a progressive club sound that adventurously mixes house, techno, Jersey club, footwork, and more.
